Being Intentional About Achieving Your Goals

As we move into the second half of 2026, it is a good time to pause and reflect: What goals did you set for yourself this year, and how much progress have you made? If some goals have been placed on the back burner, don’t be discouraged. There is still time to make meaningful progress. The key is to be intentional about how you spend the months ahead.

Start With What Matters Most

You don’t have to accomplish everything at once. Take a look at the goals you created at the beginning of the year and identify the ones that are most meaningful to you.

Perhaps you wanted to improve your health, spend more time with family, learn a new skill, travel somewhere special, organize your finances, or simply make more time for yourself. Choose two or three priorities and focus your energy there.

Break Big Goals Into Smaller Steps

A large goal can feel overwhelming, especially when you look at the entire journey at once. Instead, break it into manageable steps.

For example, if your goal is to become more active, you don’t need to completely change your routine overnight. Start with a daily walk, gentle stretching, or another activity you enjoy. Small, consistent actions can add up to meaningful results.

Make Time for What You Value

Being intentional means making your goals part of your everyday life. If something is important to you, schedule time for it.

Want to reconnect with friends? Put a lunch date on the calendar. Want to read more? Set aside 20 minutes each evening. Want to learn something new? Look for a local class, workshop, or online resource.

Your goals are more likely to become reality when you make them a priority rather than waiting for the “perfect” time.

Remember, Progress Is the Goal

You don’t have to finish 2026 having accomplished everything on your list. What matters is that you continue moving forward. There are still months left in the year to learn, grow, connect, and create new experiences. Don’t focus on how much time has passed. Focus on what you can do with the time you have left. Take a moment today to choose one goal, one action, and one step forward. Your future self will thank you.
